Hello, I'm Matt. I've been interested
in the visual arts
all of my life; besides photography I enjoy drawing, printmaking, and
sculpting. I became fascinated with
photography over a decade ago, and have been studying it passionately
ever
since. Many different subjects interest me, but I
concentrate mainly on portraits, weddings, the Kansas landscape, and
documenting my family and the world we live in. I've also enjoy
photographing local bands and live music, and the city of
Lawrence. People living and
celebrating life are my favorite subject.
I was a die hard film geek for many years. I enjoyed shooting black and white film with vintage cameras, and developing and printing it myself in my BW darkroom. I worked with 35mm, medium format, and 4x5. These days I am working mainly with digital photography equipment and processes. I resisted digital for many years, and only reluctantly bought my first digital camera in 2005. I tried not to like it, but it quickly won me over, and now I think it's great! When I'm not busy with weddings and portrait sessions you'll find me wandering around Lawrence with my kids, shooting my favorite local live music, or exploring the back roads, woods, prairies, and ancient ocean floors of Kansas. There are some beautiful and fantastic places out there in an often overlooked landscape. I also enjoy cooking, reading, drinking coffee, and visiting art galleries. |
